How to Choose The Right Wedding Journalism Package for Your Wedding Keepsake

Hiring a journalist to preserve your wedding memories is a unique and exciting way to add context to your wedding photography. A custom magazine is a meaningful wedding keepsake that goes beyond the photos to tell your story. It also cultivates an alternative perspective that engaged couples wouldn't otherwise encounter and allows future generations to understand the experience of witnessing it all.
I have found that one of the best ways to preserve wedding memories is by hearing the reflections of your loved ones after they've had the appropriate amount of time to process it. Day-of, I operate as a guest and request to be seated within your chart next to your friendliest and most talkative friends or family. That way I can record some audio to get the gist of the conversation (with permission, of course), and make sure you don't have any FOMO from separation anxiety. I'll also be taking a lot of notes because the wedding day timeline can shift and I value accuracy.

The first step, though, is choosing the right Issue or Edition package to document your wedding day. It should be simple, but Preserved in Print has an admittedly unique pricing structure that might be hard to decipher at first glance.
When you take a look at Preserved in Print's wedding journalism transparency guide, you might notice that the table of contents is consistent throughout each package. That's because I believe every couple deserves to have these basic stories told; It's the amount of time and resources it takes to tell those stories that vary.
Simply put, the more people I speak with, the more Information I have to write longer stories. It will naturally bulk up your page count and generate additional content for you and your loved ones to enjoy for years to come.

The Lover's Issue
This is the most basic wedding journalism package: 6 hours of coverage, interviews with the couple, and interviews with their parents. It takes the shortest amount of time to complete, but the page length is still comparative to other issue packages. The stories may be shorter, but that means we'll have room to play with full page wedding portraits and photo galleries.
The Party Issue
This issue package is intended to capture wedding memories through the perspectives and emotions of your wedding party, but you aren't limited to just that group. Ultimately, a couple can choose whomever they wish to be the additional 8 sources included with this package. Save wedding day memories with an additional set of quote pages featuring marriage advice and favorite moments from your closest friends and family. You'll also receive 8 hours of wedding day coverage.
The Extended Issue
This is the largest issue option currently and includes 12 interviews in addition to the bride and groom. It covers 8 hours and is ideal for larger wedding parties or any notable guests you'd like to focus on (great grandparents, long-distance relatives, your matchmaker, etc.). You'll receive the same quote pages as The Party Issue, plus a special moment highlight that details a brief, but authentically beautiful moment that left an impression on everyone present.

The Day-Of Edition
Editions are based more on time than interviews. With this wedding content package, you'll have written insight from morning to night and 14 additional source interviews. Whether you'd like me to spend that time with you, your partner, or shadowing your planner, I'll make sure you get all the details you want. I'll switch back into guest-mode for first arrivals and continue as I would with any other issue to cultivate that full alternative perspective for you. You'll receive an additional highlight that details a full event moment (things like the cake-cutting, the first dance, your grand entrance, getaway, etc.).
The Weekender Edition
The Day-Of Edition, but with 2 additional 3-hour long events (welcome party, rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, cultural ceremony, morning-after brunch, etc.). You will also receive those two events as standalone stories. The amount of sources doesn't change – we don't want to add too many cooks to the kitchen and lose the balance between perspective and anecdote.

Each package includes one print issue and transparent protective sleeve. More copies can be ordered at print cost, but I cannot estimate that cost because it fluctuates depending on your issue's page number. I don't set page numbers in stone because I want your story to be told with the detail and length it demands. With all of that being said, each page costs 20 cents and prints average between $13-18 per copy.
I offer 15% off all packages for long-distance travel to help offset additional expenses (transportation, overnight accommodation, meals). I have no additional fees and provide receipts for reimbursement at face value.
